Apple Mac mini gets Updated with Intel Sandy Bridge 1

Apple updates its Mac mini compact-sized computer with newest Intel Core processor and the new Mac OS X Lion. The new mini also packs new dedicated graphics card and the Thunderbolt I/O interface. The Mac mini measures just 7.7-inches square and 1.4-inches thin and has an aluminum design. It can be powered by Core i5 or Core i7 Sandy Bridge processor, up to 8GB memory and AMD Radeon HD 6630M discrete graphics.

The new Mac mini supports the Thunderbolt I/O technology for high-speed data transfer and Apple’s new Thunderbolt Display. It supports Bluetooth and WiFi. Max OS X Lion is pre-loaded. Three different configurations are available and users can add memory, better hard drive or SSD when they purchase.

  • The 2.3 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 Mac mini with 2GB of memory and a 500GB hard drive starts at a suggested retail price of $599 (US), with options to add memory up to 8GB and a 750GB hard drive.
  • The 2.5 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 Mac mini with 4GB of memory and a 500GB hard drive starts at a suggested retail price of $799 (US), with options to upgrade to a 2.7GHz dual-core Core i7 processor, up to 8GB of memory, and a 750GB hard drive with an option to add or replace with a 256GB solid state drive.
  • The 2.0 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 Mac mini with Lion Server, 4GB of memory and dual 500GB hard drives starts at a suggested retail price of $999 (US). Options include adding memory up to 8GB, two 750GB hard drives, or up to two 256GB solid state drives.

Panasonic is going to launch in August the LUMIX DMC-FZ47 (also known as DMC-FZ48 in some markets), the latest addition to its super-zoom FZ-series. The new FZ47 sports a 24x optical zoom LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens with 25mm wide angle, and a 12.1 Megapixel Hi-Speed CCD image sensor. It can take high-resolution consecutive shots at 3.7 fps in 12.1-megapixel full-resolution and maximum 10 fps at 3-megapixel recording.

The LUMIX FZ47 features Intelligent Resolution technology extending the zoom range by 1.3x times to a 32x zoom length. Like other LUMIX cameras, the FZ47 includes the iA (Intelligent Auto) mode offering POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer), Motion Deblur, Face Recognition, Face Detection, AF Tracking, Intelligent ISO Control and Intelligent Scene Selector. During video mode, you can expect POWER O.I.S., Face Detection, Intelligent Scene Selector and Intelligent D-Range Control features.

The Panasonic DMC-FZ47 supports Full HD 1920x1080p video recording in AVCHD format and it is able to take a 3.5-megapixel still photo while shooting video. The camera also includes a 3D Photo Mode that takes 3D still photos that can be playback on MPO-compatible 3D equipment, such as a Panasonic VIERA 3D HDTV. It has a 3-inch LCD display.

Coming in August, the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ47 is priced at $399.99 and comes in black.

Panasonic LUMIX DMC-LS5 Digital Camera with 26mm Wide Angle F2.8 Lens

Panasonic introduces a new digital camera for entry-level users, the LUMIX DMC-LS5 with a  F2.8 26mm wide angle lens with 5x optical zoom. The compact 14.1 Megapixel camera features Panasonic’s Intelligent Auto (iA) mode that offers Optical Image Stabilization, Face Detection, Intelligent Scene Selector functions.

The LUMIX LS5 can capture 1280x720p HD video at 30fps, as well as VGA and QVGA video. The camera runs on AA batteries. It will be available in black in November.

T-Mobile to release HTC Wildfire S Android Smartphone

T-Mobile announced the release of the HTC Wildfire S Android smartphone on 3 August. The budget-priced compact device will be available in white for $79.99 after a $50 mail-in-rebate with a 2-year contract. It is the successor to the Wildfire and runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

The Wildfire S is powered by a 600MHz processor, 512MB RAM and 512MB ROM. Built with simplicity in mind, the phone has a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen, a 5 Megapixel camera with video recording, Bluetooth, GPS and WiFi. It comes with HTC Sense and Swype keyboard for easy text input.

Samsung N100 MeeGo Netbook Heading to India

Samsung is launching a new netbook in the Indian market, the N100 running MeeGo, instead of Windows. Based on Samsung N150P, the new netbook is boosted by an Intel Atom N435 1.33GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, and integrated Intel GMA3150 graphics.

The N100 comes with a 10.1-inch 1024×600 LCD display and supports WiFi connectivity. It has a 4-in-1 card reader, two USB ports and VGA output. A 3-cell battery is included. The netbook measures 264 x 188.0 x 26.7 – 34.7 mm and weighs just 1.03kg.

While the Beat needs an wireless transmitter, Libraton brings the Live, an AirPlay-enabled version of Beat. The wireless speaker supports AirPlay technology for streaming music from iOS devices including iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. There is also 3.5mm audio jack for connecting other audio sources.

The Libratone Live sports one 5-inch bass, two 3-inch midrange and two 1-inch ribbon based tweeter drive units, and each of them are independently amplified to deliver a total output of 150W. It features built-in Digital Signal Processing, Digital Amplification and FullRoom acoustic technology for a 360-degree sound.

Libratone Live will be available in September, along with Lounge, for Euro 699. It comes in slate grey (standard), blood orange, vanilla beige, blueberry black and lime green colors, and is finished in luxury cashmere wool.
