Top 5 Best Gadgets Of 2011 (So Far)

Posted: 29 Jul 2011 01:52 PM PDT

Thanks to CES, thanks to the handful of high profile announcements Apple has made over the years, thanks to the fabulous tech toys that we saw at Comic-Con last week, 2011 has become virtually synonymous with the year of some pretty cool and awesome gadgets and new technology. And we expect to see many more development of tools, gadgets and tech devices that will revolutionized the way people live.

Let us present you with a top 5 list of some of the coolest and best gadgets that have made an impact in the business world in the year 2011. these cutting-edge selections not only represent many of the best new gadgets that are available to business owners and working professionals in 2011, but will also continue to dominate the gadget world in years to come.

1. Best Gadget of The Year – Apple iPad 2

How can we continue the list without mentioning this uber-awesome Apple tablet! This second generation of iPad 2 refines an already excellent tablet PC. Its easy-to-use interface, vast app catalog, and marathon battery life bolster Apple’s claim to being the king of tablets. It comes with the advanced duo core A5 chip meaning it is twice as fast as the original iPad.

Apple’s iPad 2 is dramatically thinner and boasts front and rear cameras, FaceTime video chat, a faster processor, and 3G options for both AT&T and Verizon. The iPad 2 is thin–so thin, in fact, that it feels like a different device. Measuring just 0.34 of an inch, it’s thinner than the iPhone 4 and a third thinner than the original iPad.

Other spectacular features include a front and rear camera, multi-touch functioning, 3G and its Wi-Fi connectivity. The iPad has been touted by many as a possible best gadget of 2011. This device is very helpful for businessmen as it has full corporate data access and can support video conferencing.

Apple products will always have haters, but for most 10-inch tablet seekers, the thinner, lighter, and faster iPad 2 leaves very few reasons to consider the competition.

2. HTC Thunderbolt

The HTC Thunderbolt was Verizon’s first attempt at a 4G phone. The HTC ThunderBolt lights up with blazingly fast data speeds, but those who want 4G now should be aware that it takes a big toll on the smartphone’s battery life.

Download speeds consistently ranged between 8 megabits per second and 12 mbps on Verizon’s LTE network, which runs circles around the HSPA+ handsets that AT&T and T-Mobile try to pass off as 4G. The Android 2.2 smartphone also supports simultaneous voice and data over 3G and boasts a large 4.3-inch touch screen, ample storage, and an excellent camera.

The Android 2.2 smartphone might not offer the latest and greatest (e.g., dual-core processor), but with the carrier promising average download speeds of 5Mbps to 12Mbps and upload speeds of 2Mbps to 5Mbps, it’s no surprise why many are clamoring to get their hands on this dream gadget for the geeks.

3. BlackBerry Playbook

No more than 7" wide, BlackBerry Playbook promises an experience that's even bigger, faster and limitless. It also comes with Adobe Flash Player 10.1, Java and Adobe Mobile AIR. And with 3G connectivity spreading some love, we're definitely going to make the most of its 3mp HD front facing camera.

The playbook comes with a 1GHz dual-core processor and a 1GB RAM. The play book has symmetric multi-processing capability, which ensures that you can do many tasks with it at the simultaneously. PlayBook is also  ideal for games, media, apps and everything else on the internet. It's also quite a useful tool for video conferencing as it comes with front and rear cameras, HD display and rich stereo sound.

The most exciting feature of the Blackberry Playbook is the ability to sync with your Blackberry smartphone, providing you with a larger screen space for checking out your email, contacts, calendars, and other applications while on the move.

4. Casio Tryx

If you’ve heard of the Casio Tryx it’s most likely due to the camera’s innovative, twistable design. An ordinary digital camera at first glance, the Casio Tryx has an outer handle that swivels and rotates, so you can prop it up like a tripod or grip it in the fist like the now-defunct Flip.

Without qualification, this is one of the strangest, most bizarrely designed cameras we’ve ever seen, featuring a pop-out display and a grand total of two buttons for operation. At 4.8- x 2.3- x 0.6-inches, it’s certainly one of the slimmest, easy-to-carry point-and-shoots on the market.

There’s no question that the Tryx is snappy, produces reasonably great images in daylight and handles Full HD video like a champ and if you want to flaunt a unique looking camera then this is probably as best as it can get! But if you are looking for a more professional DSLR camera, then check out our list of Top 5 Best Selling Digital SLR Cameras 2011!

5. Amazon Kindle eBook Reader (Wi-Fi)

The Amazon Kindle e-book reader uses its wireless internet connectivity to allow its users to browse, read and shop online for e-books, newspapers, magazines, and other media. The third-generation Kindle’s winning combination of noteworthy upgrades–an improved screen, better battery life, lighter weight, and lower price–vaults it to the top of the e-book reader category.

Slimmer, more compact design than previous Kindle; improved screen with higher contrast and faster page turns; native PDF support; large library of hundreds of thousands of e-books, newspapers, magazines, and blogs via Amazon’s familiar online store; Wi-Fi access to Amazon’s online store; built-in keyboard for notes; with 4GB (3.3 usable) of internal memory, it’s capable of storing 3,500 electronic books; eight fonts available, including two new extra-large sizes; excellent battery life; displays image files, and plays MP3 and AAC audio.
